Founded on November 14, 1999, the Concordia Chapter at the University of Connecticut has become the first chapter of Mu Sigma Upsilon in the state of Connecticut.

The Concordia Chapter was founded by three strong, determined, and dedicated women who felt a dire need to unite women of all cultures. These women sought out an organization that promoted diversity and educated women of their cultural history, an organization that empowered and uplifted women of every background. There was no organization existing at the University of Connecticut that demonstrated the goals of these women. This did not limit these women, as we learn that we cannot limit ourselves. With research and persistence, these women were introduced to the beautiful sisterhood of Mu Sigma Upsilon Sorority, Inc. Mu Sigma Upsilon offered all that these women were in search of, as the goals of MSU reflected the goals of these women. In united efforts, these women then went on to found the Concordia Chapter at the University of Connecticut.
